If anyone has this album, or would like me to review it properly, just let me know. Their first studio album, Leitmotif, was released by the Universal. The music conveys the theme of the album, which is a bit unusual (it's a story about a man with a "moral" disease who has to traverse the globe to cure himself) well enough. dredg is a progressive alternative band from Los Gatos, California, USA formed in 1993. The only letdown is the vocals in the mix - the man, while a decent singer, is hard to understand except at a few parts in the song.tho, the lyrics aren't very important. He brings a happy, light feel to the music without interfering with the infectious guitar work.bass parts flow well - like in a jazzy sort of way - yet fit in with this style of rock very well. However, I feel the standout on this unusual rock album which, I feel, could appeal to most anyone, is the bass player. Originally starting out as an alternative metal outfit, Dredg established themselves in the indie scene with their debut album Leitmotif (1999), which showed the band stylistically moving into progressive rock and art rock the album's local success landed them a deal with Interscope Records in 2001, who re-released the album later in the year. The drummer is inventive, and the guitarist has a very unique style. The sound, while heavy, does not give one the after effects of listening to metal or other heavy music.unusual, indeed. The album, Leitmotif, is composed of five short movements and five short songs (this isn't progressive music that stretches on for hours - but it has a progressive feel to it). I recently acquired this excellent release by a fairly unknown band named Dredg.
